But I want to introduce you to the other riders on this Crazy Train.
First…

Species: Bill-the-Cat/Steller’s Jay chaos bird hybrid
Mayday is my:
Catastrophizer
Hypervigilant alarm system
Anticipatory fear
“What if?” machine
Emotionally expressive survival bird
Primary duties:
Weather forecasting of doom
Dashboard-light panic
Suspicious rustling analysis
Snake distrust operations
Emergency campground morale Announcements
Catchphrases:
“ARE YOU SERIOUS??!!”
and
“ABANDON HOPE.”
And the important part:
Mayday is not wrong — Mayday notices things.
Mayday just occasionally broadcasts:
DEFCON 1 over a yellow oil light.

Ferrari is my:
Instinct
Competence
Field intelligence
Calm assessment under pressure
Deeply competent survival self
Primary duties:
Route calculation
Tachometer diplomacy
Rapid threat assessment
“Pull over NOW” moments
Solving problems while everyone else panics
Catchphrase:
“Gather information first.”
Ferrari’s expression says:
“I already solved the problem three hours ago. Please stop screaming, Mayday.”
And then there is the ever reliable, ever calm Cora. My Subaru.
Cora was named after a Corvid. They’re intelligent, not easily ruffled, and can be very “I told you so”. At the appropriate time.
We also have Maya. A beautiful little lama planter. She’s calm as a cucumber. 😉
This is the crew I’m traveling across the country with. I never feel alone.
As always,
Springer Jones
